What is Yoga and how Yoga can transform your life ?
Yoga is largely an unregulated area, but if you trace back in history, we find that Yoga was introduced in the Hindu culture by a Maharishi called Patanjali who lived around the 2nd century BCE. He is known as the father of Yoga. There are multiple types of Yoga and innumerable variations. However, all have two common purposes, in my opinion.
The first purpose is to improve and maintain body flexibility and another is more spiritual in the sense, it helps you to feel enlightened, or takes you towards realization. But in layman’s terms, or for what it is important to us in our everyday lives, it greatly helps in improving focus and encourages the brain to be sharper and more observant.
Yoga is the stretching of muscles, daily, consistently, which is what ultimately improves your flexibility. The asanas focus on specific muscle groups, and consistency helps strengthen them. To reap the full benefits of the poses, one is encouraged to hold each pose as long as possible. This helps to let the effect reach the deeper muscles and heal them. This also leads to improving the harmony between body and mind, allowing the mind to become increasingly aware of the body. The communication between body and mind automatically improves, making us more observant and attentive to our bodies.
There are beginner-friendly asanas and more advanced asanas or poses that will help you achieve greater flexibility and finally let you do those unimaginable stunts that our action heroes do!
But we are not aiming for that. We are looking for a more pain-free life, where we can enjoy everyday movements, play with our kids, or restart our old hobbies and sports that we enjoyed as children. This is about living a more fulfilling and satisfying life with easy movements. For this, we need to be able to do yoga poses well and consistently.
Honestly, consistency is all that matters when it comes to Yoga. Be patient, be kind, and be consistent in your Yoga practice, and you will start to see the difference in about a month. Here are some poses that focus on important muscle groups to help improve our daily lives.
